Join Island Health as a Peer Support Worker, providing compassionate service to individuals facing trauma and mental health challenges. This part-time role involves travel between multiple sites.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver essential services to clients with complex needs, including histories of homelessness and substance abuse. This role requires you to organize services while fostering an workplace of support and understanding. You will also need a valid BC Class 5 driver's license for site visits and transportation needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to enhance service delivery
• Provide direct support to clients facing various challenges
• Organize services in a compassionate and flexible manner
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Utilize an electronic file system for effective documentation
Requirements:
• Experience in social services or similar fields
• Current or past recipient of mental health/substance abuse services
• Grade 12; relevant certificates required
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills
• Physical ability to perform duties of the role
