Job Title: Family Wellness Advocate/Support WorkerDepartment: Tupa's LodgeReports To: Tupas Lodge ManagerHours: Varies by positionWage: $25.00About the OpportunityTupa's Lodge is an Indigenous Mothers' Second-Stage Parenting and Life Skills Program that supports Indigenous mothers and their children in building stability, strengthening parenting and life skills, and preparing for independent living within a culturally supportive setting.Available PositionsWeekend Evening Support Worker (Temporary / Maternity Leave Coverage, approximately 8-10 months)Friday, Saturday, and Sunday4:00 PM – 12:00 AMKey ResponsibilitiesSupport participants in developing and working toward individualized wellness, parenting, and life skills goalsBuild respectful, supportive relationships with mothers and children while providing encouragement, guidance, and accountabilityComplete case notes, communication logs, incident reports, and other required documentation in a timely and professional mannerSupport daily household routines, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and the overall operation of Tupas LodgePerform general housekeeping, including cleaning participant and staff areas, bathrooms, floors, laundry, and managing garbage and recycling to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.Conduct wellness and safety checks and respond to crises, conflicts, and emergencies using trauma-informed approachesTransport participants and children to appointments, activities, and community services, and assist with errands and supply pickups as neededSupport participant engagement in cultural, recreational,
and community programmingWork collaboratively with the Tupa's Lodge Manager, Staff Supervisor and team members to provide coordinated participant supportParticipate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and program activities while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentialityQualifications & RequirementsMinimum Grade 12 education; post-secondary education in Human Services or a related field is considered an assetAbility to safely lift and carry 25–30 lbs or more and perform the physical duties associated with housekeeping, cleaning, and supporting the daily operation of the Tupas Lodge.Experience working with women, families, youth, or vulnerable populationsKnowledge of trauma-informed practice, mental health, addictions, and harm reductionExperience working with Indigenous families and communities is considered an assetStrong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsKnowledge of sanitation protocolsSatisfactory completion of Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).Full valid Class 5 driver's licence, reliable vehicle, and satisfactory driver's abstract.CertificationsFirst Aid / CPR (asset)Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) (asset)Mental Health First Aid (asset)Food Safe Certification (asset)Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society holds a human rights special program exemption under the BC Human Rights Code, which allows us to give preference to Women applicants for this position.We thank all applicants for their interest, however only individuals selected for interviews will be contacted.
