With up-to-date infrastructure and a strong technical team, West Red Lake is committed to operational excellence, sustainable mining practices, and long-term success as it moves toward steady commercial production.Reporting to the Safety Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that best practices are followed to help mitigate accidents, and for ensuring that all works follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations at West Red Lake Madsen Mine. This position is a 14/14 rotation with flights and camp provided.Duties and ResponsibilitiesParticipate in accident investigations, produce and distribute appropriate documentation, as required.Conduct planned workplace inspections with supervisors on a weekly basis.Document results of safety tours; follow up to ensure issues have been addressed and resolved.Ensure diligent record-keeping of all training records and signing of documentation.Produce and revise job task procedures.Assist with the development of training modules and underground procedures.Support the occupational health and safety committee.Conduct safety inductions.Develop safety policies and procedures.Conduct safety meetings.Identify and correct safety hazards.Ensure all workers comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario and mining regulations.Provide advice and be a safety resource for supervisors.Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation's goal of being accident-free.Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations,



and legal requirements.Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.Assist in drug and alcohol testing.Perform other duties as assigned.Formal Education and Work Experience RequirementsOntario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or a minimum of 5-10 years of underground mining experience working in various types of positions in the mining industry.Supervisory experience would be an asset.Certification in Ontario Common CoreUnderground Supervisor Common Core and "Train The Trainer" would be an asset.Technical Skills and KnowledgeSolid computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft PowerPoint softwareComprehensive knowledge of accident investigation processCapable of designing creative and effective training materialBe familiar and support the gas badges programVery familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act and mining regulationsOther Skills and Abilities:Strong written and verbal communications skillsExcellent organizational skillsCompetent report-writing and documentation skillsEffective prioritization abilitiesCapable of effectively managing multiple prioritiesGood decision-making capabilitiesExcellent interpersonal skills and works well with othersMust possess a valid Class G driver's licenseLeadership Requirements:Participates on weekend on-call for safety departmentHighly motivated and enthusiasticDisplays initiative and capable of setting and achieving goals and objectivesAdapts well to changeWorks well independently with minimal supervisionFunctions well under pressureGood motivator and coach, and capable of developing othersCapable of remaining focused during challenging situationsMaintains emotional control under stress and applies tact in difficult situationsFlexible, cooperative team playerGood planning and directing abilitiesMaintain confidentiality in all company dealingsContributes to overall success of safety and training teamBenefits:Quarterly bonus programFly In/Fly Out, accommodations and meals provided100% employer paid extended health and dental programRRSP matching program***Must be willing to produce a criminal background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol test***Red Lake Madsen Mine is an equal opportunity employer who appreciates all those interested in working on this exciting project.
