ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER — SEAFOOD & FISHING INDUSTRYCompensation: $75,000–$95,000 to start, with flexibility to stretch for the right candidate, plus milestone pay increases, year-end bonuses, RRSP matching, a full benefits package, and discounts on seafood.OVERVIEWA well-established and respected seafood processing and logistics operation in BC's wild seafood industry is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Assistant Operations Manager to support the Senior Vice President of Operations with the day-to-day execution of logistics, fleet coordination, and plant operations.The right candidate is currently working on fishing vessels as a fishing professional — a fisherman, deckhand, or similar — and is ready to transition from the water to the docks. This role is built for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and enjoys being both on the floor and in the field.You will work closely with the Senior VP of Operations and senior leadership to ensure seamless coordination between fishing vessels, logistics, and plant operations.This is not a desk-only role. You will be in the warehouse, on the dock, coordinating freight, solving real-time issues, and building relationships with fishermen and internal teams.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the Senior VP of Operations with daily operational activitiesCoordinate activities involving fishing vessels, docks, warehouse, freight, and plant operationsAssist with fleet and transportation coordinationCoordinate incoming and outgoing seafood shipments and freightSpend significant time on the floor, dock, warehouse, and in the fieldBuild and maintain strong relationships with fishermen, vessel crews, suppliers, drivers,



and internal teamsIdentify operational issues and resolve them quickly and practicallyHelp ensure smooth movement of product from vessels through processing and logisticsAssist with scheduling, planning, inventory movement, and day-to-day logisticsSupport plant operations and help maintain efficient workflowsUse Excel and operational data to track activities and support decision-makingAnticipate operational challenges and take action before issues escalateWork closely with senior management on process improvements and operational prioritiesMUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONSDirect, hands‐on experience working aboard commercial fishing vessels — requiredExperience as a fisherman, deckhand, vessel crew member, or similar fishing professionalStrong communication and relationship-building skillsHigh level of initiative, accountability, and self‐motivationAbility to operate autonomously and think aheadStrong practical problem‐solving and decision‐making skillsComfortable working in a quick‐paced, high‐pressure environmentTeam‐oriented with a hands‐on mindsetFlexible and adaptable to changing prioritiesExperience in logistics, operations, transportation, or supply chainForklift experience or willingness to obtain certificationProficiency in Microsoft ExcelWHO THIS ROLE IS FORThis is an excellent opportunity for a commercial fishing professional who wants to transition from working aboard vessels into a long‐term shore‐based operations career.Practical fishing and vessel experience is highly valued.
