We work hard, day in and day out, to make sure that we exceed the expectations of those we serve.Position overviewThis role is for an existing full-time, permanent vacancy in our Western Ontario region.The Site Assistant will be required to perform tasks involving physical labor at commercial construction projects and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the cleaning and preparation of work-sites, installing finishes protection/floor protection, cleaning up rubble and debris and removal of waste materials.Core CompetenciesCustomer FocusCommunicationEnergy & Strong Work EthicTeam WorkQuality OrientationProblem SolvingAccountability and DependabilityEthics and IntegrityResponsibilitiesClean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces and other temporary structures, garbage chutes if requiredInstate floor-protection and finishes protection as directed by MARANT Site SuperintendentsGrind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machinesLoad, unload, and identify building materials and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specificationsProvide assistance to craft/ trade workers as directed by the Site SuperintendentPerform demolition work and salvage useful materialsUse computers and other input devicesOversee trades and subcontractor,
suppliers and others on siteChecks and monitors workflowActs as a lead hand to other laborers and external staffRepresents MARANT in the absence of the Site Superintendent's on project siteMonitors and ensures compliance to health and safety standardsDemonstrates positive, supportive attitude about MARANT and clientsCollaborate with site superintendents, subcontractor and others to maximize performanceEnsure job related boards, notices, paper work, safety station, job-box etc., are complete and available as per requirementsDemonstrates responsibility for contributing to the success of the projectRequirementsHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalentPost-Secondary diploma in a related field preferredMinimum of 1 year of experience as a General Laborer preferredPossess a valid driver's license in good standingCurrent certification in WHMIS, Working from Heights and Basics in SupervisionKnowledge of First Aid and CPR preferredAbility to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible mannerEffective verbal and listening communications skillsTime management skillsMathematical skills and analytical skills necessary for constructionProactive in ensuring job knowledge is currentRespect diversity - treat others with respectAvoid unnecessary conflictAvailability to work evenings and weekends if needed due to project demandsKnowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in basic construction processesStrong working mechanical knowledge of power tool and basic hand tools,
