The cardiac and vascular program performs more heart surgeries and procedures than any other facility in the province. Emergency Services at all Hamilton Health Sciences sites provides acute care for both adults and children.The Registered Nurse works as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Hamilton General Hospital Emergency Department (ED). As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the standards of practice for Registered Nurses. ED nurses work in rapid-paced, complex and highly technologically integrated environments. The RN will participate in ongoing education and development as they strive to provide the best care for all.Rotating days, evenings, nights,



weekends and holidays.Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered NurseCurrent certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)Demonstrated current experience in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing for adults and children; minimum two (2) years' experience preferredDemonstrated knowledge of assessment and management of a broad range of disease processes involving all age groups; e.G. critically ill, injured, episodic and non-urgent patientsDemonstrated expertise in physical assessment, ECG interpretation, health teaching, and clinical decision making without a prior diagnosis of emergency presentations, in all age groupsDemonstrated current knowledge of cardiac and respiratory arrest proceduresDemonstrated knowledge of the community and hospital resources, including regional programsProven ability to work in a high volume, high turnover environmentDemonstrated proficiency in working with patients, families, peers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, both in the hospital and in the communityDemonstrated excellence in problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbalDemonstrated strong leadership ability and organizational skills, ongoing professional developmentAbility to perform well in high stress situationsCertification for Emergency Nursing (ENCP) preferredCritical Care Certificate preferredCurrent certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferredCurrent certificate in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferredCurrent certificate in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
