Position: CaseworkerProgram: Community OutreachPosition Type: Unionized, In-scope [SGEU]Employment Terms: Permanent, Full-timeHourly Pay: [$21.95 to $23.72]Vacancies: 1Apply By: 11:59 pm (CST), September 29, 2026___________________________________About John Howard Society of SaskatchewanWe're a well-established non-profit provincial organization that provides effective, just, and humane services in response to the causes and consequences of crime, and assists individuals who are at risk or are involved in the criminal justice process.Our MissionThe John Howard Society of Saskatchewan provides prevention, intervention, support services, and advocacy for individuals who are at risk or are involved in the criminal justice process.Our VisionCommunities have effective, just, humane practices that support positive social outcomes___________________________________About the roleUnder the supervision of the Program Manager, or designate, the Caseworker will assist in case management, service delivery, supervision of participants.What you'll doCaseworker duties include the following responsibilities:Deliver client-oriented programming with a focus on life skill building, emotional regulation and general wellness.Provide intensive case management using a client centred approach that is risk reductive and supportive at the client levelConnect participants to community supports.Provide stabilization and crisis support.Provide incidental problem solving and emotional support during crisis situations.Provide accurate written documentation.Role model positive behaviour and encourage and assist participants to practice self-help and non-violent problem-solving skills.Provide client transportation as required using JHSS program vehicle.Perform all other duties as assigned/needed.Maintain confidentiality.Knowledge, Skills and Assets:Working knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan.Working knowledge of the characteristics of disadvantaged persons.Working knowledge of Restorative Justice and Harm Reduction practices.Understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.Exceptional writing and case management skills.Strong verbal skills and the ability to communicate professionally.Resourceful, flexible, and well organized.Skilled, responsive, and a positive work attitude.Ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while navigating crisis.Ability to work independently.Must maintain a positive relationship with clients, other staff, businesses, and government agencies.Demonstrate empathy for those impacted by the Criminal Justice System.QualificationsEducationSecondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges or University Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and/or minimum 1 year of practical experience working with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues including homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfarePractical ExperienceWorking knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues,



including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system.Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc.OtherFirst Aid, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe would be considered an asset.Valid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver's License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles.Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date.CapabilityComputer skills with emphasis on Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)Requires flexibility and should be able to work varying shiftsAdditional InformationThe above statements reflect general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as the detailed description of all work assignments that may be inherent to the position.Your past doesn't need to define your future.
