Schedule may change with two weeks' noticeProbationary/qualifying period will be 488 hours with mid and end point reviews$23.89 - 25.54 depending upon applicants' length of seniority (as per the Collective Agreement)Job SummaryThe Homemaker reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society including following Lookout's Code of Ethics. The Homemaker performs a variety of cleaning duties ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of resident and/or shelter rooms and communal areas.This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.Job DutiesClean rooms,
change and make beds, do laundry, keep supplies organized and stocked, keep personal care supplies organizedGeneral cleaning, laundry, washing, and disinfecting areas such as walls, windows, ceilings, floors, carpets, air vents, furniture, mattresses, blinds, and washroomsOrganize donations and oversee and direct volunteersAssist clientele with personal hygiene and nutrition as neededEmployees are expected to remain alert and attentive during working hours. Sleeping during shifts is not permittedResponsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of health and safety programQualifications & CompetenceMinimum Grade 12 education plus one (1) year of recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceMust have current Occupational First Aid Level 1 CertificateCrisis Intervention Skills Training is an assetAbility to work independently or in a team settingAbility to manage and organize workloadDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writingMust understand and maintain clientele/worker boundariesAbility to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environmentQuick learner and self-motivatedStrong physical and mental ability to perform work tasksMust be able to operate job related equipment such as laundry machines, etc.A minimum of two (2) years of sobriety if you have had concerns related to alcohol and/or drug useCriminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable SectorClosing DateApplications will be accepted until October 29, 2026 at 5:00 pm
