IT Support Technician and Network Assistant

St. Clement's School (SCS) is seeking a collaborative and service-oriented IT Helpdesk Support Technician and Network Assistant to join our IT Department. This full-time role is central to delivering responsive, high-quality technical support to staff, students, and parents. As the first point of contact for IT services, the role combines strong customer service with hands-on technical troubleshooting across a diverse device environment, including macOS, Windows, iOS, and ChromeOS in our BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) setting.

Reporting to the IT Support Operations Manager & Network Administrator, and working closely with the IT Helpdesk & Systems Administrator, the successful candidate will support daily school operations by resolving technical issues, assisting with network and infrastructure tasks in collaboration with managed service providers, and contributing to a positive, innovative technology environment that enhances teaching and learning. This role requires excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for IT support, providing timely, professional assistance in person, by phone, and online

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, user accounts, printers, classroom technology, and network connectivity

Prioritize and manage helpdesk tickets, documenting support interactions with clear notes, updates, and resolutions

Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or external service providers as needed

Support macOS, Windows, iOS, and ChromeOS devices, including laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals

Assist with onboarding, device setup, password resets, and access issues for users

Collaborate with managed service providers on network operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting; act as an on-site liaison

Assist team with workstation deployment, device imaging, inventory management, and summer technology rollouts

Provide support for classroom technology, including interactive displays, projectors, audiovisual systems, and printers

Support school events, meetings, and presentations requiring A/V and basic IT setup

Troubleshoot Wi‑Fi and network access issues in classrooms and common areas

Maintain knowledge of supported systems, tools, and best practices to improve efficiency and service delivery

Assist in supporting school applications, databases, and other digital systems (e.g., security, communications, building systems)

Work with external vendors to support the School's technology infrastructure

Identify opportunities to enhance processes, improve user experience, and support innovation in technology use

Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and inclusive school culture

Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned

Cybersecurity and Compliance

Follow established cybersecurity protocols and data privacy requirements

Promote user awareness of cybersecurity best practices

Respond promptly to phishing attempts, suspicious activity, and potential security incidents

Support endpoint protection, software patching, and system updates





Work Schedule
This is a full-time, in-person position with hours starting typically at 7:30 AM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support school events, technology deployments, and emergency situations.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience)

1-2 years experience in technical support and or helpdesk role, with a solid emphasis on customer service

Experience using MacOS, Windows, iOS, ChromeOS, MS Office

Understanding of cloud based solutions, with experience using Google Apps, Microsoft O365 and backups

Strong customer service skills and analytic skills

Basic understanding of networking (Wi‑Fi, TCP/IP, printers)

Supports and contributes to a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion;

Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Experience with device configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management, including imaging and setup

Working knowledge of audiovisual (A/V) systems and the ability to support classroom and event technology

Resourceful and flexible with strong organization, problem-solving, and time management skills;

Managing competing priorities and multiple tasks while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy;

Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and growth with a proactive approach to work

Participation in the full life of the School; and

Criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is between $55,000-$60,000 per annum, in addition to a comprehensive health benefits plan, professional development opportunities, subsidized parking or TTC transit fare and generous vacation time.
