List of Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the position
Three years of relevant experience
Clean criminal record check
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
Well organized, flexible, self-motivated and able to work and make decisions independently and collaboratively
Demonstrated time management skills
High level of comfort and proficiency in public speaking
Familiarity with local community service agencies and resources
Understanding of cross-cultural and diversity issues and the ability and experience in supporting people of all cultures and diverse backgrounds
Valid BC driver’s license and access to a safe and reliable vehicle
Valid first aid or CPR certification
List of Duties The part-time PEACE Counsellor will provide group support using the Violence is Preventable curriculum to all grade levels in all qathet schools.




Support students to define violence and responsibility for violence, express feelings, improve communication and problem-solving skills, practice coping skills, increase self-esteem, develop support networks, and develop safety plans.
Establish a working relationship with individual schools
Deliver Violence is Preventable program with various grade levels within the school system.
Attend training as available (includes online webinars, training modules, etc.) to regularly update knowledge base
Connect with the BC Society of Transition Houses for orientation and on-going support and training
Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
Perform other job duties as assigned or required
This is an 18 hour per week regular part-time union position which will begin Monday October 26, 2026, and end March 31, 2027.
Hours of work are adaptable but must be available during school hours.
