It reminds each one of us that what we do matters.JOB PURPOSE:The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports the delivery of comprehensive nursing care within a family medicine clinic setting.Working in collaboration with family physicians and reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, customer service, and administrative support to promote productive clinic operations. The LPN is expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, patient safety, and confidentiality at all times.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Medical DutiesPerforms a variety of clinical interventions and medical procedures, as authorized by the physician and within the LPN's scope of practice,



including but not limited to:Assisting with minor surgical procedures, pelvic examinations, and IUD insertions/removalsPerforming point-of-care testing as ordered by the physician, including urinalysis, blood glucose testing, and pregnancy testingAdministering injections and vaccinationsApplying dressings, tensor bandages, splints, and slingsRemoving sutures and staplesPerforming ear irrigationInitiating oxygen therapy under physician directionObtaining and recording vital signs, height, weight, and visual acuity measurementsAssembling and maintaining required sterile equipment and suppliesMaintaining the orderly storage and appropriate disposal of clinic suppliesAdhering to established standards of cleanliness and safetyAdministrative DutiesGreeting and registering patients in a professional and courteous mannerScheduling appointments and notifying patients as requiredEscorting patients to examination rooms and preparing them for physician assessment as requiredAccurately documenting all procedures and interventions in the patient chartScanning and filing patient documentation as requiredReceiving, sorting, and distributing mail and faxes as appropriateCompleting daily, weekly, and monthly assigned choresInitiating forms, preparing billings,



and collecting payment for uninsured servicesParticipating in the orientation and training of new staff and studentsMaintaining an understanding of physician preferences and workflows in order to provide effective supportDemonstrating alignment with the organization's purpose and core values in daily practiceActively participating in organizational initiativesPerforming other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Completion of a two-year LPN diploma from an accredited institutionCurrent registration and good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of AlbertaMinimum one year of customer service experienceExperience using EMR software, such as Med AccessStrong communication, active listening, and problem-solving skillsStrong clinical, customer service, and organizational skillsAbility to handle confidential information in accordance with the Health Information Act and organizational privacy policiesStrong computer skills, including proficiency in ExcelCurrent CPR certification at the Health Care Provider (BLS) level is requiredVaccine Storage and Immunization training is requiredWe believe our employees should reflect the communities we serve and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
