The RoleAs a Payroll Specialist (Bilingual), you will play a key role in ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time for both our union and non-union facilities. You will manage end-to-end payroll processing, drive process improvements, handle year-end reconciliations, and implement efficient payroll solutions.This is a hybrid role, working a minimum of 3 days per week in our Toronto office or at our Brampton office if preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesFull-cycle payroll processing on weekly and biweekly cycles for both unionized and non-unionized hourly and salaried employees in a timely and accurate mannerAddress and resolve timecard inquiries from various locations, ensuring that approved timecards are submitted on time and that valid data is accurately transferred to/from payroll systemsMaintain and update HRIS (ADP) records for employee changes, recent hires, and terminations, ensuring accurate and seamless data managementPrepare and submit third-party remittance reports as requiredGenerate various payroll reports on an ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual basisMaintain comprehensive payroll records for auditing purposes, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirementsOversee year-end processes, including T4s, RL-1s, T2200s, and tax filings, and reconcile source deductions with remittance dataCollaborate closely with departments such as HR, Accounting/Finance, and Operations to gather the necessary information for payroll processing and to resolve any issuesRegularly and proactively assess payroll workflows to identify and address discrepancies by analyzing data, determining root causes,
and implementing corrective actions to prevent future issues and enhance overall efficiencyConduct thorough audits of payroll data to ensure compliance with both legislative requirements and internal policiesProvide prompt and effective responses to inquiries and requests from managers and employeesStay informed about changes in Canadian payroll legislation and ensure payroll processes remain compliantOther additional payroll-related projects as assignedSkills & ExperiencesPost-secondary school degree or diploma, paired with a Canadian designation in payroll (PCP or PLP)5-8 years of full-cycle payroll processing in a unionized environmentProven experience with payroll reconciliations including T4's and source deductionsExcellent analytical, problem solving/judgement skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressureCustomer service oriented, skilled at building relationships across all levels of the organizationHighly proficient working with Excel and other MS office applications, with experience using ADP WFN preferredBilingualism in English and French is mandatoryWhat we offerComprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision coverage for you and familyTuition reimbursement to invest in your growth and career developmentCollaborative and supportive work environment where your ideas are valued and your impact is visibleCompensation$75,000 – $85,000 CAD per yearThe compensation range listed reflects the expected compensation for the role.
