Make a meaningful impact as a Duty Counsel with Legal Aid Ontario. Provide essential family and criminal legal services across the Tri-Counties region in a supportive environment.

This role is crucial to Legal Aid Ontario, where you'll assess clients' legal needs and provide robust representation both in-person and remotely. You will be directly involved in family law cases and criminal matters, including bail hearings and guilty pleas, ensuring clients navigate the justice system effectively. The position requires flexibility for travel across Brantford, Simcoe, and Cayuga for court appearances and client meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as Family and Criminal Duty Counsel
• Assess client needs for appropriate referrals
• Represent clients in various legal settings




• Prepare legal documents for court cases
• Provide advice at the Family Law Information Centre

Requirements:
• Valuable standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Experience in criminal law, including complex issues
• Strong knowledge of family law legislation
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Support vulnerable clients by providing crucial legal assistance and advocacy as part of Legal Aid Ontario's dedicated team.
