JOB DESCRIPTION – SEPTEMBER 2026FINANCE LEADPosition Overview The Finance Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's success through strong financial management. They are responsible for ensuring the non-profit's financial transactions and policies meet government regulations and standards. To be compliant and maintain transparency, they must document every transaction and follow established receipt, auditing, and other financial procedures that are crucial to the ongoing acknowledgment of the charitable status. They work well in fast-paced environments, have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. This position reports to the Executive Director and has no direct reports.Duties and responsibilitiesManage and maintain accounting books/recordsReconcile bank accounts weekly and at month endCoordinate and account for all income streams to operations and designated accountsDonations to Hope House including cash, cheque, online and pre-authorized giving (PAG) roughly 3500 transactions per yearManagement of PAG donorsMonitor and manage cash flowTransfer funds between bank accounts as requiredProcess all payable invoices and issue payments weekly - cheques and electronicPrepare all credit card reconciliations and cheque requisitions for approval by the Executive Director with the support of staffInvoice and follow up to ensure payments of invoices from sponsors or businesses that have commitments to make payments as directed by the Community Engagement Manager or other staffComplete data entry for all physical and electronic charitable donations in KeelaManage and submit HST rebatesPayrollManaging payroll (15-20 employees) through Dayforce/PowerpayPrepare weekly payroll,
submit for approval and post in QuickbooksAdd new staff to Powerpay, process salary changes/relevant deductions, process ROE'sEnroll employees in Group Benefit and RRSP plansAct as the Hope House Benefits Administrator ensuring that employees receive their enrolment information, enrolment information is loaded into the Benefit portal and amendments to employees' profiles are completed (e.G. leave of absence, salary changes and employment status changes).Ensure WSIB quarterly remittance and Group RRSP remittance monthlyFinancial Analysis, Reporting, and AuditSupport preparation of annual budget for approval by the BoardProvide financial analysis and prepare reports for the Executive Director, staff, and Board, supporting effective stewardship of organizational funds.Coordinate year-end audit; participate in the annual auditing process by ensuring the auditor has access to all required documentation.Fundraising and Grant Management SupportSupport Community Engagement Manager in communications to donors surrounding their donations and charitable receiptsSupport preparation of grant proposal budgets and financial reportsOther dutiesUphold a strict level of confidentialityOther duties as assignedQualificationsCompletion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field or completion of two years (first level)
of a recognized professional accounting program (e.G., Chartered Accounting, Certified General Accounting) or courses in accounting or bookkeeping combined with several years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk are required.Solid written and verbal communication skillsStrong computer skills including Google Suite, Microsoft Office and QuickbooksCommitment to the vision, mission and core values of Hope HouseA valid vulnerable sector criminal record check will be required by the successful candidateWorking knowledge of poverty (i.E. generational, situational, working poor)Compensation and DetailsHours: Average 19 hrs/week, part-time permanent positionDays of work to occur between Monday to FridayStart Date: November 1, 2026Salary Range $25-30/hourThis position is a remote or hybrid role.
