Skilled Labourer – Housing DepartmentFull-Time positionSheshegwaning First Nation is seeking a highly motivated, well-organized and versatile person to fill the position of Skilled Labourer within the Housing Department. Under the supervision of the Housing Director, this person will support the work of the Housing Department.QualificationsSecondary School graduate plus acceptable related work experience and/or trade certificate in Carpentry, preferredExperience and skills in multiple types of home repair, maintenance, and renovations workExperience working safely with power toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of building codes is an assetWorking knowledge and experience in Indigenous culture and community lifeDuties and ResponsibilitiesComplete repairs to Band owned housing units including minor repairs to plumbing and heating/cooling systems as well as carpentry repairs (interior/exterior),
as neededPerform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repairComplete minor renovation projects, as required, subject to fundingMaintain inventory of supplies and equipment, make minor purchases, as required, and communicate with the Housing Director to ensure efficiency.Ensure proper PPE is always worn, and safe working practices are always followedAssist in maintaining a clean and secure worksiteRequired to move furniture, equipment and supplies, as neededOther duties, as assignedSalary Range: as per SFN salary gridPreference will be given to qualified members of Sheshegwaning First Nation.
