local labour market information and community resourcesExceptional customer service attitude and skillsOrganizational and time management skillsStrong leadership and communication skillsWhat does this role look like at the YMCA of southeastern Alberta?Reporting to the Employment Centre Manager, the Career and Employment Advisor will assist individuals in providing comprehensive and individualized services that enable job seekers to acquire workplace and occupational skills allowing them to re-enter the workforce as quickly as possible.The responsibilities and duties of this role will include but is not limited to:Customer ServiceAssist participants with resume development, job search strategies, interview skills, training opportunities, career planning, employability skills and labour market informationInitiate, develop and maintain employer contacts by marketing our programsNegotiate job placements and work experience opportunities for clients with employers in Medicine HatRespond to phone calls/emails within 24 business hoursGreet customers/program participants professionally and courteouslyYMCA ValuesExemplify the values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and inclusiveness at all timeTeamworkWork effectively within the Association Services team, contributing to its overall success by:Promoting the YMCA's annual Y Connect CampaignContributing to a positive and healthy workplace cultureOther duties as assignedAbility to initiate and model positive changeStandards that ShineAchieve all quality standards and targets established under YMCA best practices and the YMCA's Standards that ShineGeneral cleaning as required around the facilityEnsuring all staff are aware of Standards that Shine,



and work with them to create a culture of excellence in adherence to guidelines and expectations outlined by the Standards that Shine.Interpersonal/Communication SkillsEnsure any conflict in the workplace is resolved promptly, in accordance with YMCA policies and proceduresQuality of WorkEnsure all tasks are completed accurately and in a timely mannerInitiate, develop and maintain employer contacts by marketing our programs – the position will entail initiating and meeting with local businesses/employers to promote our clients and available servicesNegotiate job placements and work experience opportunities for clients with employersProvide ongoing coaching on a one‐on‐one basis for individuals connecting to the workforceConduct a thorough assessment to help clients identify their interests, skills, and abilities, and relate them to the workforceAssist clients in identifying and addressing barriers to employmentConduct follow-up services with clientsFacilitate life management and employability workshopsConduct data entry into the Mobius tracking systemCompliance with Legislation and YMCA Policies and ProcedureEnsure all YMCA policies/procedures and applicable legislation is followedCompliance with funding contracts, including meeting targets/outcomes, reporting, confidentiality, etc.Work Environment and Physical DemandsOffice located on the main floor.Sitting at a desk and using a computer for most of the dayFrom time to time, may need to lift boxes of files weighing up to 20 lbsMay be exposed to all weather conditions when walking outside to/from vehicle.May be exposed to all weather conditions when using vehicle for occasional business purposes (e.G., going to an employer meeting).The Benefits to Joining our Team:Paid wellness days and benefits package after 3-month probationary periodPaid Birthday and Employment Anniversary DateFree Health Plus Membership with 15% discount for family members2 weeks paid vacation after 3 months prorated based on start date1 week of PTO after 3 months prorated based on start date
