Background Screening and Security Checks

The Opportunity
Join Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business as a Primary Engineer (Substations) . In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of high-voltage AIS and GIS substation projects that support the reliability, safety, and modernization of the power grid across Canada. Working through proposal, engineering, and construction phases, you will develop electro-mechanical designs, coordinate engineering activities, and collaborate with customers, contractors, equipment suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams. Your work will directly support critical transmission infrastructure projects, helping utilities and industrial customers improve grid performance while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and project execution. How You'll Make an Impact
Provide engineering services for AIS and GIS substation projects throughout proposal, design, and construction phases.
Develop electro-mechanical engineering deliverables including single-line diagrams, layouts, grounding systems, station service designs, raceway systems, and bills of materials.
Support the development of engineering solutions for complex substation and transmission infrastructure projects.
Coordinate engineering activities and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support successful project execution.
Review engineering deliverables for technical quality, constructability, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
Prepare engineering schedules, work plans, and cost estimates to support on-time project delivery.
Provide technical support during testing, installation, factory acceptance testing, and commissioning activities.
Work directly with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to address technical challenges and project requirements.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
4-8 years of relevant experience.
Member of OIQ or licensed with an engineering association in another Canadian province.
Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, and ANSI/IEEE requirements.
Experience in plant design, particularly involving high-voltage transmission substation solutions.
Experience supporting AIS and/or GIS substation engineering projects.
Proficiency in BIM, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and Revit 3D modeling.
Fluent in both French and English.
