Position SummaryThe School of Health and Wellness is currently seeking a permanent Lab Attendant to join our growing team! The Health and Wellness Lab Attendant work together with the lab staff in performing duties which enhance student learning. The Health and Wellness Lab Attendant assist with the collection and organization of specialized supplies and equipment for the School of Health and Wellness. This position will assist with lab set-up and assist with simulation events as needed.Position ResponsibilitiesInventory Stocking and BuildingAssists with the day-to-day packing, unpacking and preparation of supplies and materialsBuild student kits according to plan sheets; distribute kits as neededAssists with the safe storage of hazardous materials, which may include biohazardous material, medications, and equipmentAssists with the completion of annual inventory of all labsAssist with digitalizing inventory and implement/maintain inventory systemEnsure storage areas are clean and tidyLab Maintenance and SafetyPerforms general cleaning in Health labs, referring to contractor as necessaryAssists with movement of lab equipment from one lab to anotherMakes recommendations for repairs or assists with minor repair of equipment in consultation with CoordinatorEnsure labs are secure when not in useEnsures a protected and healthy work environment, complies with polytechnic health and safety policies, practices,



and programs in keeping with occupational health safety legislation and regulationsLab Set-upAssists with set-up and take-down of labs as requestedEnsures faculty has access to props and assists with the application of make-up or creation of realistic looking body fluidsAssists in preparing manikins and standardized patients with appropriate make-up and props for simulation eventsMoves equipment as neededActively acquires knowledge and skills related to this positionRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent to about 12 years of schoolingFirst Aid/CPRAt least 6 months' experienceSafety courses such as WHMIS, OHSFamiliarity of health care technologyAbility to lift, bend and move heavy equipment essentialAbility to work in a demanding environment and ability to prioritizeAbility to troubleshoot electronic equipmentAbility to work independently as well as with a teamBasic computer skills & knowledge of Microsoft 365 (emphasis on Excel)Preferred QualificationsTwo (2) years of post-secondary training,
