Palliative Care

Salary Range: $39.96 - $40.37 /hour
It is understood that the hours of work reflect the current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change as determined by the Employer. Flexibility is required to cover all shifts including weekends and statutory holidays.
The Palliative Care Unit is comprised of 18 beds and is part of the Complex Care Program. The Unit provides pain and symptom management and end of life care for patients with a life limiting illness. Our interdisciplinary team provides a holistic and team-oriented approach to care, focusing on the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients. Our ultimate goal is to earn the complete confidence of our patients and their families by providing exceptional care that meets their individualized care needs. Essential Qualifications
Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
Current RPN certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Proficiency and experience in pharmacology and medication administration
Valid CPR certificate
Successful completion of the Fundamentals Palliative Care course or ability to successfully complete within 12 months
Registered to attend the CAPCE course and ability to successfully complete within 24 months
Successful completion of a nursing competency test
Experience and knowledge of the nursing care needs of the palliative care patient
Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and be able to work as an effective team member
Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills
Superior communication skills both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to apply and document the nursing process
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to apply effective body mechanics and meet the physical demands of the position
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in French would be an asset
Successful completion of CAPCE

Immunization Requirements
Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
