Eligibility
Applicants must be third or fourth‑year students of accredited domestic or international veterinary schools pursuing a DVM, VMD, or foreign equivalent. The externship is open to third and fourth‑year veterinary students attending an accredited veterinary school. Priority is given to students likely to pursue careers in emergency medicine and who are considering moving to the Western Massachusetts region after graduation.
Responsibilities
Students will work three 12‑hour shifts partnered with an emergency veterinarian. They will see emergency cases and have the opportunity to spend time with our board‑certified internists and surgeons. Completed evaluation forms will be provided by accredited veterinary schools to allow students to receive academic credit for their time at VESH.
Rotation Schedule
Rotations are typically scheduled from the fall through early spring of the fourth year. The rotation duration options are two weeks or four weeks.
Housing
Visiting students are responsible for finding their own housing.

A statement about why you would like to do a clinical rotation at VESH, including areas of interest in veterinary medicine (e.g., surgery, emergency).
Potential dates for your externship.
School deadline information if your school has a deadline requiring an answer about availability.
