Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is a modern regional referral hospital serving patients throughout northwestern Alberta and neighboring regions. The facility includes 11 operating rooms, a regional cancer centre, intensive care services, mental health services, and extensive educational partnerships with Northwestern Polytechnic. As the Anesthesia Assistant, you will participate in the delivery of safe, high-quality anesthesia care and will be an integral member of a regional referral centre serving northwestern Alberta, northeastern British Columbia, and parts of the Northwest Territories. Grande Prairie is Alberta’s largest city north of Edmonton and serves as the commercial, educational, and healthcare hub of the Peace Region. Description:
As an Anesthesia Assistant,



you will work under the direction of licensed anesthesiologists (specialist physicians) and as part of the anesthesia care team to design and implement anesthesia care plans. You will use your knowledge, clinical inquiry, and assessment skills to guide complex clinical decisions in time-sensitive situations.

Required Qualifications:




Successful completion of an accredited post-graduate Anesthesia Assistant Program.Active registration with the applicable regulatory body.Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) membership with Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant (CCAA) designation.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Current BLS and ACLS certification.Recent Operating Room and/or Critical Care experienceDemonstrated proficiency in: Airway management, Difficult airway support, Anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting, Invasive and non-invasive monitoring, Vascular access assistance, Perioperative patient careStrong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
