Lead infection control initiatives with Unity Health in Toronto, Ontario. This full-time temporary role emphasizes evidence-based practices to minimize hospital-acquired infections and enhance safety.
The Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) position is pivotal for guiding infection control strategies. Reporting to the IPAC manager, the ICP will utilize expertise in infection prevention, coordination of surveillance activities, and ensuring compliance with best practice recommendations. Additionally, the ICP will engage in quality improvement initiatives and educational facilitation across all healthcare staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and coordinate surveillance for significant infections
• Assess and respond to outbreaks and exposures
• Serve as an IPAC consultant for the organization
• Implement IPAC policies and procedures effectively
• Conduct audits and facilitate educational sessions
Requirements:
• Degree in a health-related discipline
• Recent infection prevention experience in healthcare
• Current CBIC certification preferred
• IPAC Canada membership preferred
• Robust knowledge of infectious diseases and microbiology
