Title: Youth Centre Worker

Department: Community Programs

Status: Regular Full time

Pay Grid: Salary Range 1 ($41,600.00 to $54,600.00 per year)

Reporting to: Elders, Youth and Neighborhood House Manager

Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of Elders, Youth and Neighborhood House Manager, the Youth Centre Worker will assist the Youth Centre Coordinator in developing and planning programs to support youth to make choices about their present and future options regarding education, health and leisure, careers, and social situations. The program and services offered at the Youth Centre are designed to address and facilitate personal, social and emotional development of the community's youth.

Key Deliverables and Expectations:

Assists with programs and activities in the Youth Centre.

Ensures the health and safety of youth in the Youth Centre by adhering to all safety and emergency procedures.

Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies.

Assist with designing and facilitating weekend activities and encourage as many youths as possible to take part.

Help in cultivating a fun, warm safe, harmonious atmosphere in the common areas.

Ensure that the Youth Centre is clean.

Daily upkeep of the Youth Center grounds.

Open and close the Youth Centre.

Enforce rules at the Youth Centre.

Include Ucwalmicwts language presence in the Youth Centre.

Maintain incident reports.

Communicate with the Elders, Youth and Neighborhood House Manager, Parents and Guardians, when needed.

Works with other Lil'wat Nation departments, when needed.

Available for evening and weekend shifts.





Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:

Food Safe certification is an asset.

Nutritional training or certification is an asset.

Ability to analyze situations, plan, organize, and research.

Ability to follow instructions and to maintain working relations with fellow employees and the public.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a safe work environment.

Must be positive role models in their daily habits and life outlook.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.

Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and time management skills.

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality.

Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint are assets.

Previous experience living or working with First Nations communities preferred.

Previous experience as a participant or organizer of youth programs, activities, etc.

Evenings and weekends, potential for a flexible schedule to meet the needs of a student.

Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.

Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation, and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and community Members.

Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License, a clean Driver's Abstract is an asset.

Must be able to provide a explicit Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.
