Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the educational needs of approximately 17,750 students in 41 schools. Every day, the staff and students of EIPS are encouraged to pursue opportunities to grow and discover their passions in life. The Division prides itself on providing staff and students with the tools to achieve success by offering dynamic programming, up-to-date resources and practical qualified learning opportunities.
Central administration is comprised of eight departments, in addition to the Board of Trustees. The departments include Education Executive, Communication Services, Facility Services, Student Transportation, Human Resources, Financial Services, Supports for Students, and Information Technologies. Supports for Students (SFS) provides services for the division in a variety of areas, including curriculum, assessment, pedagogy, and educational technology.
EIPS is recruiting a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Grade 7-9 Mathematics Curriculum Teacher to support the implementation of the new curriculum.
Commencing October 14, 2026 and ending January 29, 2027
Located out of the Trillium Centre - 101 Crimson Drive, Sherwood Park, AB
Duties may include:
developing, curating, and designing high-quality, curriculum-aligned mathematics resources for junior high educators that align with Divisional scope and sequences,
applying a strong pedagogical lens to create materials that support diverse learning needs across the division,
collaborating with teachers and instructional consultants to ensure resources are practical, accessible, and impactful for classroom us,.
staying current with curriculum as changes continue to be made by the Government of Alberta,
providing input,
and receiving direction from the EIPS Director of Instructional Supports,
assisting with professional development sessions for teachers and administrators to support curriculum implementation, and
attending professional development sessions focusing on curriculum.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Strong subject matter background in both elementary and secondary mathematics.
A broad, divisional perspective with the ability to understand, anticipate, and respond to the diverse needs of educators across various school contexts
A strong pedagogical lens regarding current math instruction, assessment practices, and resource design
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with experience leading or working alongside peers in professional learning communities
Effective organization, project management, and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
Driven to set and achieve goals
Experience or familiarity with SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Teams
An understanding of the Alberta Provincial Resource Review Guide
Knowledge and understanding of the use of artificial intelligence platforms
