Elevate urban planning with the City of Burlington as a Community Initiatives Planner. This full time hybrid role focuses on policy development and community engagement over a contract of up to 10 months.

As a Planner within the Community Planning Department, you will join a dedicated team responsible for creating long-range plans and strategic initiatives. Your expertise will guide local planning policies while engaging with community stakeholders. Additionally, you will support council reports and recommendations regarding land use issues and development applications.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support policy directions and planning studies for development proposals
• Review land use studies, environmental assessments, and demographic data




• Ensure compliance with Provincial planning legislation and City Official Plans
• Prepare staff reports and public presentations for council meetings
• Provide expert evidence to tribunals on planning matters

Requirements:
• University degree in Urban Planning or related field
• 2-4 years experience in municipal planning
• Knowledge of computer applications and databases
• Membership in CIP or OPPI is an asset
• Occasional travel may be required
