Empower Indigenous youth as a Community Outreach Worker with the Kamloops-Thompson School District. This full-time role supports educational success and community engagement until June 2027.
The Kamloops-Thompson School District seeks a dedicated Indigenous Community Outreach Worker to engage students and community groups across Kamloops, Chase, and North Thompson. Robust candidates should possess a background in child/youth care, with experience addressing the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of Indigenous students. Flexibility with working hours, including evenings and weekends, is essential to meet program requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the implementation of educational programs for Indigenous students
• Monitor and report on student progress and attendance
• Consult with families and counselors for student reengagement
• Facilitate referrals to community support services
• Participate in home visits and school outings
Requirements:
• Grade 12 with one year post-secondary education
• Two years experience with children needing support
• Knowledge of Indigenous issues and cultures
• Valid BC Driver’s license
• Experience with elementary and secondary education
