Make a difference in the lives of Deaf students as a Student Support Counsellor with the Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch in Milton. This role involves guiding students while using American Sign Language (ASL) effectively.
We are seeking a dedicated qualified for our temporary Student Support Counsellor positions at the Ernest C. Drury student lodging program. Candidates should have a background in child development and experience working in child-related fields. The successful applicant will work shifts, including afternoons, evenings, and overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide supervision and guidance for Deaf students
• Plan and implement individualized programs for personal development
• Facilitate social and recreational activities for Deaf students
• Maintain a safe environment for all students
• Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Requirements:
• College certification in child development or related experience
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience with Deaf or hard of hearing students
• Flexible availability for various shifts
Support the growth and independence of Deaf students through tailored guidance and inclusive programs.
