Support clients at The Salvation Army as a Peer Support Mentor in London, ON, enhancing their social and life skills. Engage in one-on-one interactions while providing essential guidance in a caring setting.
This full time, temporary role focuses on helping individuals who are on their recovery journey. You will facilitate daily activities, assist counselors with strategies, and offer supportive listening, all while fostering a protected space for clients. Collaborate with team members to uphold the mission of The Salvation Army, ensuring optimal support and care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide individualized client support and friendly interactions
• Facilitate daily activities and accompany clients to functions
• Assist counselors in developing strategic interventions
• Report client issues or crises to the counselor promptly
• Suggest improvements to enhance center efficiency
Requirements:
• Background as a consumer/survivor in recovery for at least 3 years
• Peer Certification or Training is an asset
• Post-secondary studies in social services is a plus
• Background Check with vulnerable sector screening required
• Computer skills, specifically in MS Office and data collection
Foster supportive relationships while enhancing client life skills and managing daily activities at The Salvation Army Centre of Hope.
