Job Description
Position: Special Need Support Staff
Location: 515 Hartsdale Ave, Mississauga, ON L5G 2G7 (location is subject to change based on enrollment)
Hourly Wage: $22.27**Plus hourly Provincial Wage Enhancement if applicable** Compensation rates are increased for RECE candidates
SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT STAFF – BEFORE SCHOOL AND/ OR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38full-day early learning and child care centres and sixEarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will assist in establishing and maintaining a safe, warm, and caring setting in which a high quality child care program can operate.
Visits programs and work with children and staff where children require support to be integrated into the program.
Works with children on an individual basis, to assist them in managing their behavior and promoting their self-esteem while gaining acceptance of their peers.
Staff are required to attend meetings and training sessions during the day.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth, Developmental Support, Educational Assistant, Recreation and Leisure and/or training in the fields of psychology and experience working with children with differing abilities or diagnosis.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills
Supervisory experience an asset
Flexible and energetic approach to work
Positive and sensitive attitude towards children and staff
Physically able to participate with children in the gym, outdoors and provide personal care as required
Valid Standard First Aid, with level C CPR
Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, dated within the last six months
Basic ability to use technology (including smart phones, computers, tablets)
