As a Trust Accountant, you'll oversee full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for various Indigenous trust accounts, including Treaty benefit trusts. This hybrid position allows you to engage with multiple stakeholders, including investment managers and auditors, to meet compliance standards and support community goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare full-cycle accounting records for diverse trust portfolios
• Maintain accurate trust tax filings and support audits
• Reconcile investment holdings and resolve discrepancies
• Manage unique payments from Trust accounts timely
• Ensure compliance with trust agreements and internal controls
Requirements:
• 3-5+ years in fiduciary accounting, Indigenous experience preferred
• CPA or Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager designation preferred
• Proficiency in Excel and trust accounting systems
• Solid cultural competency with Indigenous communities
• High attention to detail and discretion in financial matters
