Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1600 hours, 0730-1530 hours, 0730-1730 hours
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Position Summary
The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre program provides world-class cardiovascular care. One of the largest programs of its kind in North America, we are a major referral centre. Our program offers resources and expertise prepared to deal with even the most complex patient cases. Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians and other allied health professionals with special training in cardiac and vascular conditions and its treatment. Each year, our cutting-edge surgery techniques and outstanding cardiology interventions attract hundreds of visiting professors and trainees from around the globe.
Duties
Participation with implantation of devices, laser lead extractions and running analyzer hardware/software
Assessment of lead position and function in the OR and Cath Labs
Assessing the following at routine visits as well as on remote monitoring: troubleshooting of intra-cardiac electrograms, evaluation of the data retrieved from the cardiac rhythm device, arrhythmia report, battery life, lead functionand alerting the physician of concerns identified.
Required practice in a cooperative and patient centered role that complies with departmental and hospital policies, in order to deliver safe and efficient patient care
Completion of a recognized 2yearCardiac Technologist Diploma program
CSCT (Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists) registration
Must be familiar with contemporary pacing practices and be able to respond to emergency situations appropriately (ie: pacemaker/ICD/CRT functions, clinical indications, follow-up and lead malfunctions)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S)
IBHRE Certification an Asset
Previous experience and knowledge of PM/ICD/CRT algorithms
Abilityto work full shift wearing mask and leadaprons
Comprehensiveknowledgeofcardiac anatomy,physiology and pathophysiology
Excellent problem recognition and problem solvingskills
Effective time management skills, ability to organize work and setpriorities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work effectively as both a teammember andautonomousprofessional
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment
Ability to work accurately under stressfulconditions
Ability to meet patient careneeds
Commitment to continuing education to ensure maintenance of competencies and current best practice in devicemanagement
Knowledge of hospital emergency codes and procedure
Previous experience with pacemaker and defibrillator programming, an asset
