Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Experience

Minimum of two (2) years as a practicing lawyer or a commensurate combination of labour law experience and years as a practicing lawyer.

Strong experience in labour and employment law.

Experience working with the health care sector is an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctorate (J.D.).

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Member in good standing with the Law Society of Manitoba.

Qualifications and Skills

Proven ability to lead and work within a energetic, fast-paced team environment.

Excellent communication, analytical, advocacy, organizational and interpersonal skills required.

Demonstrated ability to write and think concisely and analytically.

Excellent negotiating and drafting skills required.

Ability to exercise sound and impartial judgment in challenging situations.

Knowledge of current and developing legal issues and trends in labour and employment law.

Proven ability and aptitude for recognizing, investigating and analyzing problems, and for developing innovative solutions to complex situations.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff at all levels, both verbally and in writing.





Proven ability to work within a dynamic team-oriented environment where the range of responsibilities is varied.

Ability to work independently and willingness to assume additional responsibilities.

Ability to plan, schedule and complete work in a concise, clear, accurate and timely manner.

Computer knowledge and experience in a Microsoft Office environment.

Physical Requirements

Must be willing and able to travel and work from various client locations within the Province of Manitoba.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
