The Mobile Cancer Screening Coach Program aims to increase participation in breast, cervical and colon cancer screening by providing direct on-site cancer screening services in neighbourhoods with low cancer screening rates. The Program reaches out to clients to clients whose access to health services is affected by the social determinants of health (e.G. transportation, language, culture, poverty etc). The Coach is a 45-ft bus that is staffed daily by a team that includes a receptionist, Registered Nurse (RN) and Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT). The Coach provides service at multiple community locations throughout the region including Hamilton, Niagara Region and Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit Territories.As a MRT technologist of an approved site of the Ontario Breast Screening Program, the incumbent performs mammograms within policies and procedures for both the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) and OBSP quality programs. The OBSP mammography technologist accepts the responsibility for client-centered care and for personal effective team functioning amongst peers and other members of the integrated cancer screening offices. Liaises with the Radiologist to ensure the technical quality of images is of the highest quality.Days, evening & weekends1. Graduate of an approved training program in Radiological Technology2. Demonstrated ability to work responsibly in a team environment3. Current CMRTO registration is required4. CAMRT certificate in Breast Imaging5. Minimum two years current mammography experience, performing a minimum of 40 to 80 mammograms per month6. Previous Radiological QC experience and/or Radiological QC certificate7. Current BCLS certification is an asset8. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team workplace.9. Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.10. Experience in and sensitivity to working with multi-cultural clientele and issues11.
Flexibility in working hours is required as dictated by the needs of the program12.
