Contribute to justice in the role of Institutional Duty Counsel at Legal Aid Ontario, located at the Toronto East Detention Centre. Provide vital legal support and advocacy to clients during their engagement with the criminal justice system.

Legal Aid Ontario is seeking a dedicated lawyer in good standing to serve clients at the Toronto East Detention Centre. In this role, you'll utilize your skills to offer legal advice, facilitate bail hearings, and assist clients with complex legal issues. Your commitment to client service and relationship building will be essential for success in this impactful position.

Key Responsibilities:
• Review and update bail worksheets and legal files
• Prepare clients for bail hearings and guilty pleas
• Engage with potential sureties to determine suitability




• Provide legal advice related to criminal processes
• Liaise with detention staff and stakeholders for client service

Requirements:
• Lawyer licensed with the Law Society of Ontario
• Experience in bail hearings, legal advice, and client representation
• Sound knowledge of the Criminal Code and legal procedures
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced settings
• Solid interpersonal and analytical skills
