SHIFTS MAY BE OFFERED IN ADVANCE OR ARISE ON SHORT NOTICE, INCLUDING LAST-MINUTE CALL-INS, BASED ON OPERATIONAL NEEDSPOSTING DATE: 30 September 2026CLOSING DATE: 6 October 2026UNION: SERVICE EMPLOYEE'S INTERNATIONAL UNION-SERVICEWAGE RANGE: $29.154 TO $30.346 PER HOURPOSITION OBJECTIVE:Working to promote quality patient/client-centred care and high professional standards, the Emergency Room Technician will assist the ED care teams and patients with, initial and ongoing patient assessments, monitoring VS, O2 therapy, Sp02 monitoring, IV therapy, performing 12 lead ECGs, blood glucose testing, assisting with ambulation, turning and positioning of patients, supporting secure offload patients and other unit functions within the Paramedics knowledge, skill and judgement. Continuous collaboration with the RN team members is essential.QUALIFICATIONS:Completion of a Paramedic program; successful completion of the Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant certification examinationExperience delivering patient care preferredCurrent BCLS, ACLS is considered an assetDemonstrated proficient knowledge of CPR and ability to perform compressions during CPRExperience working within an interprofessional teamDemonstrated ability to meet the physical demands of the position, physically capable to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with assistanceKnowledge of body mechanics for the pushing of stretchers and wheelchairs and proper patient transfer techniques requiredCritical thinking and able to perform appropriately in emergency situationsDemonstrated advanced competence with regard to patient safetyStrong communication skills including conflict management and situational awarenessExperience in multitasking and task managementEvidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skillsFlexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with delegation of tasksConsistent and regular attendance requiredThis position is an existing vacancy at Niagara Health.
