Full-Time Teaching Position
POSITION SUMMARY
Stoney Education Authority is seeking a qualified and relationship-focused High School English Language Arts Teacher to join the team at Mini Thni Community School.
The successful candidate will teach Grade 9, Grade 11, and Grade 12 English Language Arts, along with a Career and Technology Studies (CTS) course during Semester 1.
This position offers the opportunity to teach in a smaller school environment where solid relationships, individualized support, and connection to community are central to student success.
TEACHING ASSIGNMENT
Grade 9 English Language Arts
Grade 11 English Language Arts
Grade 12 English Language Arts
One CTS course during Semester 1
Preparation and collaborative planning time within the school schedule
Class sizes are generally 20 students or fewer.
AND CLASSROOM SUPPORTS
Teachers at Stoney Education Authority work as part of a collaborative student-support team.
Available supports include:
Educational Assistants
Occupational Therapy
Psychology
Behaviour specialists
Speech and Language services
School administration and student-support personnel
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with these supports to respond to individual student needs and promote student engagement, achievement, and well-being.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with the Alberta curriculum
Teach assigned English Language Arts and CTS courses
Develop strong, respectful relationships with students
Differentiate instruction to respond to a range of learning strengths and needs
Assess student learning and provide meaningful and timely feedback
Support student literacy, communication, critical thinking, and academic growth
Collaborate with Educational Assistants, specialists, administration,
and colleagues
Maintain clear communication with students, families, and school leadership
Support positive classroom culture, attendance, engagement, and student well-being
Participate in professional learning, school activities, and collaborative planning
Incorporate culturally responsive and land-based learning opportunities where appropriate
Demonstrate respect for Stoney Nakoda culture, language, community, and ways of knowing
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess:
A Bachelor of Education or equivalent recognized teaching qualification
Eligibility for Alberta teacher certification
The following are considered assets:
Experience teaching secondary English Language Arts
Experience teaching senior high school students
Experience or comfort teaching CTS programming
Experience in First Nations, Indigenous, rural, or community-based education
Experience supporting diverse learning needs
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary placement is based on education and recognized teaching experience in accordance with SEA’s applicable teacher salary grid.
Eligible employees also have access to SEA’s employee group benefits program in accordance with applicable plan terms.
