The Montérégie West Community Network is a regional organization supporting the English-speaking community in the Montérégie West. MWCN is looking for an ambitious, community-oriented Community Engagement and Project Coordinator to support two community projects focused on poverty reduction and social inclusion, and understanding Indigenous culture.
The Coordinator will work with community members, partners, schools, and organizations to deliver outreach activities, consultations, workshops, cultural events, and other initiatives that strengthen community engagement, understanding, and collaboration.
Job Responsibilities:
Poverty Reduction and Social Inclusion Project
Coordinate community outreach, focus groups, consultations, surveys, and engagement activities.
Engage English-speaking residents experiencing poverty and social exclusion, including people with lived experience.
Build relationships with community organizations, service providers, schools, municipalities, and other partners.
Gather and document information on community needs, poverty, social exclusion, and barriers to services.
Support the planning and delivery of an inclusive community event and related activities.
Maintain project records and provide administrative and reporting support.
Coordinate activities that promote understanding, cultural awareness, and stronger relationships between
Indigenous and English-speaking communities.
Work with Indigenous partners, community representatives, youth, seniors,
and schools to organize workshops, presentations, storytelling sessions, and cultural activities.
Support the Community Advisory Committee and coordinate meetings, activities, schedules, and outreach.
Coordinate cultural events, field trips, interviews, storytelling activities, and community engagement initiatives.
Support the development of podcast, video, publication, and digital storytelling projects documenting
Indigenous knowledge, stories, and shared experiences.
Promote project activities and maintain records, participant information, feedback, and documentation for
reporting and evaluation.
The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
College or University degree in a related field of study; a background in community development, social services, or a related field would be an asset.
Experience in community outreach, engagement, partnership development, or project coordination.
Ability to take initiative and work effectively in a energetic environment requiring creativity, adaptability, and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Fluency in both French and English.
Knowledge or experience working with diverse communities would be an asset.
Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, as travel within the region may be required.
