Nature of the work
Under the supervision of the directorthe Guidance Counsellor provides assistance to students on the choice of their educational profile and career orientation. Through group and individual counseling sessions and on the basis of academic history, the counselor will advise students on their individual educational and career paths.
He/she will be required to collaborate in the organization of school-to-work activities, study sessions, as well as promoting both in-school and external school activities related to career orientation.
The Guidance Counselor also provides support to help students solve problems they encounter in both their learning and social environment. This could involve aptitude, interests, motivation and personality evaluations in order to develop individual action plans.
Collaboration with school personnel, parents, teaching institutions, the business world and government agencies is an essential component of this position
Desired profile
Be a member of the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d’orientation du Québec.
Other requirements
Demonstrate ability to work in French and English
Well organized and able to prioritize Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships with students

Additional information
Diplomas obtained outside Québec must be accompanied by a comparative evaluation issued by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration (MIFI). Reviews from other organizations (e.g., WES) are not accepted
