finish and present pastry and dessert items according to established recipes, specifications and presentation standardsComplete daily mise en place and maintain an organized and well-prepared workstationSupport the preparation of pastry items for à la carte service, banquets, buffets and other hotel operationsMaintain consistency in quality, portioning, freshness, temperature and presentationFollow established food safety, sanitation and allergen-handling proceduresProperly label, date, store and rotate products to maintain freshness and minimize wasteMonitor stock levels within the assigned work area and communicate shortages or supply requirements to the appropriate culinary leaderMaintain a clean, safe and organized workstation, equipment and storage areasReport equipment concerns, maintenance requirements, product shortages or quality issues promptlyWork collaboratively with Pastry and Culinary colleagues to support productive service and smooth kitchen operationsFollow all hotel policies, departmental procedures, health and safety requirements, Collective Agreement provisions and Fairmont service standardsParticipate in required training and development activitiesPerform other duties reasonably assigned that are consistent with the nature and scope of the positionQualificationsWhat We're Looking ForFull availability for the duration of the seasonal assignmentPrevious professional pastry, baking or culinary experience,
preferably within a hotel, restaurant, banquet or similarly high-volume environmentStrong knowledge of pastry preparation, baking techniques and kitchen practicesCulinary or Baking & Pastry education is an assetRed Seal certification or progress toward Red Seal certification is preferredStrong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, consistency and presentationAbility to organize and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a teamReliable, responsible and able to maintain composure during high-volume periodsFlexible availability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and statutory holidaysPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shiftAbility to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb), using appropriate equipment or assistance where required and following safe handling proceduresAbility to bend, reach, kneel, push and pull as required in the performance of dutiesAbility to work in kitchen environments that may include exposure to heat, steam, cold temperatures and sharp equipmentAbility to safely perform the physical requirements associated with food preparation, storage and kitchen operationsBegin your journey with Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, where your talent will rise, and your passion will be celebrated.Additional InformationVisa Requirements:Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
