Contribute to student success as an Educational Assistant supporting Indigenous students with unique needs at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Collaborate with teaching staff in a vital role within a supportive workplace.
This 100% term position requires a community college diploma in Developmental Services or Child and Youth Care, along with 1-2 years of experience with special needs children. You'll work closely with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, participate in academic support, implement special programs, and assist those with developmental disabilities. Flexibility in responsibilities is key to meeting diverse student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and disabilities
• Assist with academic tasks and learning modifications
• Engage in outside yard duties and individualized support
• Implement crisis intervention and behavior management strategies
• Observe and chart student progress and behaviors
Requirements:
• Community college diploma in DSW or CYW
• Minimum 1-2 years working with special needs children
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
• Experience with assistive technology and behavioral systems
