An Exciting Chance to Help Launch the DCS Secondary School Program Delta Christian School is seeking an experienced Mathematics, Science, and ADST Lead Teacher to join our team as we launch the DCS Secondary School program. The successful candidate will begin by teaching Grade 8 in September 2027, with Grade 9 added in September 2028.
Delta Christian School is currently a dual-track Kindergarten to Grade 7 school. This launch represents the first steps toward establishing a full Grades 8–12 program serving the Delta community. It is a unique opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Delta Christian School while building on the strong traditions, relationships, culture, and educational practices already established across our K–7 program.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of School and secondary team to help establish a strong foundation for the program’s future growth.
Flexible FTE Structure The core teaching assignment is expected to be approximately 0.4 FTE, focused primarily on Grade 8 mathematics, science, and ADST.
The position may increase up to 1.0 FTE depending on:
the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and teachable areas
their ability to teach other Grade 8 core academic subjects and/or electives
the overall composition of the secondary teaching team
how the remaining teaching assignments are filled

Position Overview In the first year, the successful candidate will have primary responsibility for teaching Grade 8 mathematics, science, and Applied Design, Skills and Technologies (ADST). The role will expand to include Grade 9 as the program grows.
The position includes both teaching and program development,
with opportunities to help shape curriculum, assessment, interdisciplinary learning, student experience, and the culture of the DCS Secondary School program.
Teamwork will be critical. Shared ownership, flexibility, open communication, and a willingness to contribute beyond individual teaching responsibilities will be essential.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will:
Teach Grade 8 mathematics, science, ADST, and electives, with Grade 9 added in the second year
Help develop and implement the DCS Secondary School program in collaboration with the Head of School and secondary team
Design engaging, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that balance digital, hands-on, and paper-based learning
Design formational learning experiences that invite students to engage in real work that meets the real needs of real people
Establish a secure, respectful, and productive learning environment with clear expectations, routines, and boundaries
Integrate a Christian worldview meaningfully throughout teaching and learning
Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, interdisciplinary learning, and program structures
Work with the Inclusive Education Department to support diverse learners and appropriate accommodations and interventions
Build strong relationships with students and contribute to a culture of belonging, curiosity, responsibility, and growth
Partner with parents and families through timely, respectful, and proactive communication
Create opportunities for inquiry, problem-solving, experimentation, design thinking, and applied learning
Participate in advisory, student life, leadership development, and the broader life of the secondary program
Help establish the traditions, culture, and academic foundation for future growth
Depending on qualifications and FTE, teach other Grade 8 core academic subjects and electives
Travel between campuses and community-based learning locations as required
Qualifications The successful candidate will:
Hold a valid BC teaching certificate or be eligible for certification
Have a minimum of three years of teaching experience in a Grades 8–12 setting
Have experience teaching mathematics, science, and/or ADST
Demonstrate strong instructional practice, classroom management, teamwork, and communication
Demonstrate a personal commitment to Christian faith and Christian education, be active in a Christian church community, and align with the Delta Christian School Community Standards
Have reliable access to a vehicle for travel between campuses and community-based learning locations
Assets include:
Experience with Teaching for Transformation (TfT) or another Christian worldview framework
Curriculum, course, or program development experience
Experience with Google for Education and inclusive teaching practices
Experience with interdisciplinary, project-based, inquiry-based, or applied learning
Ability to teach other Grade 8 core academic subjects and electives
Compensation The full-time equivalent salary range is approximately $63,000 to $102,000, depending on education and relevant teaching experience.
Actual salary will be prorated based on FTE.
