The Town is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Operations Labourer to perform a variety of labourer, maintenance and custodial tasks at the Community Centre. This is a front-line position reporting to the Supervisor of Facilities and Properties, and the successful candidate will be expected to provide courteous and professional service to members of the public while helping to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming facility.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance and minor repairs throughout the Community Centre.
Perform custodial duties, including cleaning and maintaining the gym and other facility areas.
Complete room set-up and clean-up for programs, meetings, rentals and special events.
Assist members of the public as required and provide courteous customer service.
Assist with general labour and facility maintenance tasks as required.
Follow all safety protocols, Town policies and equipment maintenance procedures.
Represent the Town in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications
Completion of a high school education.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in building/facility maintenance, custodial work, cleaning, or a related field.
Experience performing general building maintenance and minor repairs is an asset.
Experience performing custodial and cleaning duties in a public, commercial, or institutional facility is an asset.
Valid Class G Driver’s Licence.
Knowledge of appropriate materials,
methods and tools used in general maintenance and custodial work.
Ability to effectively communicate with others, including members of the public.
Ability to respond quickly in a agile and changing environment.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labour, including lifting heavy objects and walking or standing for extended periods.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Working Conditions
Up to 44 hours per week.
Weekend, holiday and evening work will be required.
Work may involve physically demanding tasks and extended periods of standing and walking.
Driver’s abstract required prior to starting work.
