Job Description This position is located at SCIC's Head Office in Melville, Saskatchewan. Consideration may be given to hybrid work arrangements within Saskatchewan. If approved for hybrid work, you will be required to work a minimum of three days in the office and up to 2 days remotely preferably from one of SCIC's Customer Service Offices (CSO) within the province. You will also be required to make scheduled trips to the head office to attend onsite divisional meetings, training sessions, employee engagement and team collaboration activities, as well as corporate meetings and events.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Accounting, this position is responsible for performing and managing the budgeting, forecasting and accounting functions for the administration funds of the Corporation.
Provides consultative role to all management to ensure staffing is allocated appropriately to ensure budget and forecast targets are met.
Analyzes current and historical administration financial data to develop budgets, forecasts, cash flows and other financial reports for the Crop Insurance, AgriStability, Wildlife, and Livestock Price Insurance programs that provide information for both internal and external stakeholders.
Co-ordinates and prepares federal and provincial claims in accordance with Federal and Provincial statutes, regulations and agreements to ensure funding of administrative activities.
Co-ordinates the annual year-end financial audit for the Crop insurance, AgriStability, Wildlife and Livestock Price Insurance Administrations funds in liaison with the Controller and the Corporation's external auditors to ensure accurate and fair presentation of the Corporation's financial activities.




Performs ongoing analysis of financial systems output and initiates changes/improvements to processes and systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of the data and information is reported in a usable format.
Monitors the Corporation's administration fund cash flow to ensure adequate financing of expenditures and responsible for the purchasing of investments to maximize return on surplus funds.
Calculates the cost of payroll proposals to assist the management team in making decisions during the collective bargaining process.
Provides direction and day-to-day leadership and management to accounting team.
As a member of the Finance management team, assist with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives defined in the corporate plan.
Skills To be successful in this position you will need a Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting supplemented with three to five years experience in a related role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures in order to perform budgeting, forecasting and accounting functions.
Experience with computerized accounting systems and Microsoft office applications to provide accurate and timely financial information.
Organizational skills with the ability to ensure budget, forecast, month end, and audit deadlines are adhered to.




Analytical skills with the ability to review and analyze financial reports to executive management and the board of directors along with evaluating the quality and accuracy of administration policies and procedures.
Decision-making skills with the ability to make sensitive and impactful financial decisions in a timely manner.
Interpersonal skills and oral and written communication with the ability to explain complex policies and procedures to stakeholders in a qualified manner.
Leadership skills with the ability to empower the accounting unit team.
