This is a Part Time Position

Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Position The Faculty of Education invites applications for part-time Academic Teaching Staff to teach the following course in the Winter 2027 term. This course is taught in-person and is part of the Teacher Education North program, located in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This course runs in a compressed format from January 4, 2027 to February 6, 2027.

EDPS 410 - Ethics and Law in Teaching

This course will examine the ethical and legal responsibilities of teachers. Among the topics addressed will be the following: punishment and child abuse; freedom of speech and academic freedom in schools; parents' rights and teachers' professional autonomy; issues of quality such as inclusive education and the problems of racism and sexism; fairness in assessment and evaluation; teachers' private lives and public obligations; indoctrination and the teaching of value.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

- The successful applicant will hold a Master's Degree (minimum, PhD preferred) in education or a related field, with at least one graduate course in the specific subject area, or related experience such as leadership experience in the subject area at the K-9 level in a school district.

Preferred Qualifications





- A strong K-12 classroom teaching background and demonstrated teaching excellence.
- Experience teaching undergraduate education courses, including serving as a teaching assistant.

- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Familiarity and facility with online teaching platforms such as Moodle, Canvas, D2L, etc.
