Key responsibilities

As an AccountingTechnician, you will be an integral part of our firm’s day‑to‑day operations. You will demonstrate your professionalism by ensuring time budgets and file deadlines are met, while continuing to develop your technical accounting expertise and contributing to the overall success of ourfirm.

Accounting and taxresponsibilities

- Calculate and prepare cheques forpayroll
- Calculate fixed assets anddepreciation
- Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeepingsystems
- Maintain general ledgers and financialstatements
- Post journal entries
- Prepare other statistical,



financial and accountingreports
- Prepare tax returns, including GST returns, personal income tax returns and corporate income taxreturns
- Prepare trial balance ofbooks
- Reconcile accounts

Audit responsibilities

- Preparation of working paper files for audit, review and compilationengagements
- Substantive testing on auditfiles

Client support and firmgrowth

- Communicating with clients about their business and personal information as you work through thefiles
- Growing to understand our clients’ businesses and identifying and presenting possible solutions to supervisors for accounting and tax issues youencounter
- Creating time efficiencies and managing multipledeadlines
- Contributing to our positive team dynamic with all levels of staff andmanagement

Key requirements

- Minimum one year of experience working with aspects of an accounting system beyond the AP/ARrole
- Prior education including tax and accounting systems courses or equivalentexperience
- Working knowledge of Taxprep, CasewareFinancials and Sage50/QuickBooks
- Effective communicationskills
- Dedication to clientservice
- High ethicalstandards
