Adult Dinghy Instructor – Weeknight and Weekend

National Yacht Club’s Sailing & Racing School is now hiring for the 2027 season! Our sailing school has been teaching sailing on Lake Ontario for over 70 years, with a history of producing high performance racers and life-long sailors.

We are located on the Western Gap of the Toronto Harbour with a protected mooring basin, quick access to open lake sailing and a short sail to the beaches of Toronto Islands and Toronto’s Inner Harbour. Our fleet of RS Quest dinghies are well maintained and our coaches are each assigned an inflatable rib to instruct from.

We host beginner and intermediate level adult lessons throughout June, July, August &

September. NYC is looking for CANSail 1&2 and/or CANSail 3&4 qualified instructors who are patient, well-spoken and dedicated to providing safe, fun and quality instruction. If you think you are the right fit for our team, please see information below!

Responsibilities:





- Part-time June through September – weeknight evenings (typically Mondays and

Wednesdays) and/or weekends

- Communication with program participants
- Teach and evaluate CANSail 1&2 and/or CANSail 3&4 level sailors aged 16 and up

(for adult lessons)
- Work with and receive support from the S&RS; Head Instructor and Programs &

Marketing Manger Our ideal candidate will have the following qualities and qualifications:

- Completed CANSail 1&2 and/or CANSail 3&4 Instructor Course (Trained or

Certified)
- Sail Canada Instructor Registration for 2027
- ROC(M) - VHF Radio Operators Certificate *
- Toronto Port Authority Operators Permit (Toronto Harbour Licence) *
