Job Summary The Applications Engineer supports the successful application of Transom products by translating customer and sales requirements into technically viable product solutions.
The role serves as a key interface between Customers, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other internal functions, ensuring application requirements are clearly understood, technically reviewed, documented, and communicated throughout the order and product realization process.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Review customer specifications, drawings, schedules, and technical requirements.
- Work with Sales and Customers to understand application requirements and clarify technical details.
- Select and configure appropriate Transom products based on customer operating conditions and performance requirements.
- Develop technical proposals, product selections, layouts, and application documentation.
- Identify requirements that fall outside standard product configurations and coordinate with Engineering on customized solutions.
- Translate customer requirements into clear engineering and manufacturing requirements.
- Support order review to ensure technical requirements are complete and achievable before release to production.
- Coordinate technical information between Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customers.
- Respond to customer technical questions during quotation, order execution, installation, and commissioning.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of application-related issues.
- Maintain accurate technical records and application documentation.
- Identify recurring customer requirements and opportunities for product or process improvement.
- Support development of application guides, selection tools, technical literature, and standard product configurations.
3. Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Communicates professionally, clearly,
and courteously with customers and external stakeholders as a representative of the company.
- 1–3 years of experience interfacing with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customers.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience in HVAC, refrigeration, hydronics, heat pumps, or mechanical equipment is an asset.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
4. Competencies & Success Factors
- Communicate and follow up with stakeholders in a timely manner using appropriate channels, including email, MS Teams, messaging, phone, and direct discussion.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability to understand and translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
- Effective technical communication with both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customer applications and priorities simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and engineering/document-management systems.
- Comfortable working directly with customers and asking questions necessary to clarify incomplete requirements.
- CAD experience is an asset.
5. Working Conditions
- Combination of office, manufacturing-floor and field (mechanical rooms, roof-top…) work.
- Regular interaction with production equipment and manufactured products.
- PPE required when working in designated work environments.
- Occasional customer, supplier, or site visits may be required.
- Travel of up to 20% may be required to support customers, suppliers, projects, and business needs.
Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
