Assistant Farm Manager

Job Summary

Walden Ridge Equestrian Center is seeking a dependable, hands-on Assistant Farm Manager to join our team in late October. This full time role combines horse care, staff supervision, equipment operation, and property maintenance at a busy equestrian facility.

Strong tractor and equipment skills are essential. We need someone who is already confident driving and operating farm equipment, can work safely and independently, and can take the lead on equipment-related jobs as they arise.

Schedule

- Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to approximately 4:30–5:00 PM
- Occasional additional hours on Sundays and Mondays during heavy snowfall

Responsibilities

- Assist with morning and afternoon barn chores, including feeding, stalls, turnout, and turn-in
- Supervise barn staff on Sundays and Mondays, ensuring work is completed safely and to our standards
- Operate tractors and other farm equipment to move and stack hay, spread manure, and maintain the property
- Harrow and maintain indoor and outdoor arenas and the track
- Plow and clear snow so staff, boarders, and Night Check can safely access the farm
- Maintain fences and paddocks, complete general repairs, and address day-to-day property needs
- Assist with inventory, timesheets, farm paperwork, and month-end records
- Recognize problems early, communicate clearly, and follow through on solutions





Qualifications

- Horse-handling experience and a solid understanding of daily barn operations
- Proven, hands-on tractor and farm equipment experience; applicants must be comfortable operating equipment independently
- Experience with snow removal and general farm or property maintenance is an asset
- Ability to supervise staff, set priorities, and keep work moving on busy days
- Practical repair skills, sound judgment, and close attention to detail
- Reliability and availability to work outdoors through all seasons, including winter weather

Previous supervisory or management experience is an asset. We’re looking for someone who sees what needs doing, takes initiative, and can become a trusted part of our management team.

Starting wage: $25–$28 per hour, depending on experience
