We’re looking for an experienced, dependable Assistant Kitchen Manager to join our team at Water Valley Saloon — your local spot for good food, cold drinks, and familiar faces.

Located in Water Valley, this role is perfect for someone who is confident in the kitchen, works well under pressure, and is ready to take on a leadership role within a busy, team-focused workplace. You’ll work closely with our Kitchen Manager to keep day-to-day kitchen operations running smoothly, support and lead the kitchen team, and make sure we’re consistently putting out quality food.

Please note: Reliable transportation to and from Water Valley is required.

Applicants must have 3–5 years of restaurant kitchen experience, including a minimum of 1 year in a kitchen leadership or management role.

What You’ll Do

- Support the Kitchen Manager with day-to-day kitchen operations
- Lead and support the kitchen team during service
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of menu items according to our standards
- Help maintain consistency, quality, portioning, and presentation
- Assist with training, coaching, and supporting kitchen team members
- Help coordinate prep and ensure stations are stocked and ready for service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are consistently followed
- Assist with inventory, receiving, stock rotation, and reducing food waste




- Help identify and resolve issues during busy service periods
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Step into a leadership role when the Kitchen Manager is unavailable
- Work closely with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams to keep service running smoothly

What We’re Looking For

- 3–5 years of restaurant kitchen experience
- Minimum 1 year of kitchen leadership or management experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Confidence working and making decisions in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Ability to lead by example and work alongside the team
- Attention to detail and pride in food quality and consistency
- Dependable, positive, and team-oriented attitude
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Food Safe certification required (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable transportation to and from Water Valley
