At IDM Youth Services (IDMYS) we believe that all people have the right to live in a safe, stable, supportive environment. IDMYS provides all-inclusive care in a residential setting to one of the most vulnerable populations, at-risk children and youth. All-inclusive care is everything from cooking, cleaning, driving to and from appointments, administering medications, offering emotional and behavioral support, going on fun outings, and more!

We are currently looking for Full-Time and Part-Time Awake Residence Child and Youth Workers tojoin our amazing team in Sooke! Preference for Applicants who are able to work weekends.

Candidates must be local to Vancouver Island to be considered.

The Residence

Child and Youth Worker is Grid 11, Compensation starts at 29.22 and requires union membership.



Shifts are 11:30pm-7:30am, and positions are set by the agency at a location in Sooke. Candidates who are looking to contribute to the growth and development of others, have a passion for helping others, and have experience working with at-risk children and youth. Candidates who are looking to grow their career in the social services field.

Additional qualities we look for are: Ability to work as a team and contribute to the plans of care. Excellent communicator who is understanding, patient, and non-judgmental while providing exceptional care to our youth. Computer literacy - ability to use multiple technology platforms.

Experience working with at-risk youth and/or people who have a mental health diagnosis. Understanding of Trauma Informed Care, and experience providing trauma informed counselling (through behavior management, attachment based, relational, or other appropriate modalities).

Education in a related field (education, psychology, child and youth care, counselling, health care). Diploma in a related human/social service field and Two years recent related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to obtain, please ensure you prepare accordingly.
